The Internet/SPACENet
is Relcom network access node (Relcom channel - 1 Mbit/s). It provides
connectivity to the Internet. The Internet/SPACENet has been organized
in Space Research Institute (IKI RAN)
, which is one of few organizations in Russia with a strong experience
of maintaining network connectivity to the Internet. The Internet/SPACENet
inherits a range of capabilities that is almost unique. This potential
comprises of the following key elements:
The Internet/SPACENet
currently has one of the most rich communication capabilities among
the Moscow organizations due to its location. Next to the Space Research
Institute, which is the home for the Internet/SPACENet, are the
Moscow City telephone station ATC-333, International telephone station
M9, communication node of Telekomcenter Ltd. All these organizations are
connected to the Internet/SPACENet using high-speed communication
channels (including fiber-optic ones).
The Internet/SPACENet
node is equipped with high-performance network hardware manufactured
by SUN Microsystems,Inc. and CISCO Systems,Inc. Switched
line connections use Motorola modems (28800 bps) and ISKRA-2
telephone numbers (70 lines).
The Internet/SPACENet
node features 24/7 network operator service with more than 10 years of
